Arthur "Art" McGraw Lansing, IL Arthur "Art" McGraw of Lansing, IL went home to be with his Lord on his 88th Birthday on Jan. 7, 2004. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Ruth A. McGraw (nee Swanson); two children, Nancy(Dan) McGraw-Royal of Hammond; John (Linda) McGraw of Northport, Florida; sister, Mildred Jaseph of Naperville, IL; many loving nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy McGraw Ross of Rockford, IL. Funeral service will be held Friday, January 9, 2004 at 11 a.m. from the Bocken Funeral Home,7042 Kennedy Avenue, Hessville, with Pastor Richard Van Dyke officiating. Cremation to follow. Friends are invited to visit with the family at the Bocken Funeral Home on Friday morning from 10 am until time of service. Mr. McGraw was a World War II U.S Navy Commander on a minesweeping vessel. He was a graduate of the University of Illinois, class of 1939, where he was a member of the track team of U. of I. He also loved swimming and sailboating. He was co-owner of the former McGraw Realty and was formerly employed at Ennis Realty and Harkin Realty as a Realtor. He was member of the First Baptist Church of Lansing, IL and a member of American Legion Edward Schultz Post 697. In lieu of flowers, memorials would be appreciated in favor of the First Baptist Church of Lansing or Hospice of the Calumet Area. Published in The Times from 1/8/2004 - 1/9/2004.
