Annabelle said when she died, she was going to go out with a bang. That same day, the Northridge earthquake in Los Angeles County, California became a reality. She was a member of the Eastern Star, Daughters of the Nile, Daughters of the American Revolution and Daughters of the Texas Revolution. Buried next to her 2nd husband, Homer McGrand and near her first husband, Guy Hiram Johnson. She was unable to conceive, so she adopted 2 sisters in 1953. The oldest of the 2 sisters, Donna, was unruly, and was given back to the Juvenile Detention Center, where she was adopted by the same family that took her older sister, Elizabeth.
