Daughter of the late Lala Chapman and Charles Hugh McGowen, Sr., she was the widow of William Davis Barbre, Sr. She attended East Carolina Teachers Collegge. She was a member of St. James United Methodist Church in Greenville, NC. She and her operated Page-Barbre Insurance Agency. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Hugh McGowen, Jr. She was survived by her daughter, Anne Barbre Price and her husband Mark; son, William "Bill" Davis Barbree, Jr., and his wife Jo Ann; two grandchildren Marck Cortier "Cort" Price and Barbre Anne "Breanne" P. Fariss; three step-grandsons; and an extended family of relatives. Her graveside service was officiated by The Rev. Dennis Adams and The Rev. Norm Waligora.
