VETERAN SHOPS EMPLOYE DEAD
Andrew McGivern, 72, Old Resident Of Village, Expires At His Home
Andrew McGivern, 72, resident of the village for nearly 30 years and veteran employe of the Soo line shops, died Sunday morning at his home, 715 Michigan avenue.
Although Mr. McGivern had been in failing health for several months his death came unexpectedly. He expired in his sleep.
Born Oc. 10, 1857, in the town of Brookfield, Waukesha county, Mr. McGivern grew to manhood at that place. He was the son of Michael and Catherine McGivern. Later he moved to Waukesha, where on May 18, 1898, he was married to Miss Ella O'Brien, who died August 26, 1926, in this village.
Surviving are a sister, Mrs. Patrick Devitt of Milwaukee and a brother, Michael of Marshfield.
For many years Mr. McGivern was employed as a blacksmith in the old Wisconsin Central and Soo line shops, retiring a few years ago. He was a member of the North Fond du Lac branch of the Catholic Knights of Wisconsin.
The body was taken to the Geo. M. Dugan funeral home and removed to the residence early this afternoon. Funeral services will be heald at 8:45 a. m. Tuesday from the residence and at 9 a. m. from the Church of the Presentation. The Rev. J. P. Heller will officiate. Burial will be at Calvary cemetery.
