Sarah Frances Glavin (nee McGinley), age 71, of Broomall and longtime resident of Darby, Pa., passed away at home Saturday January 15, 2011.
Born January 20, 1939, in Kilmacloo, Ireland, she was a daughter of Michael McGinley and Mary Ann Boyle. She was raised in Donegal, Ireland, and emigrated to the United States in 1956.
On May 9, 1959, Sarah married Edward P. Glavin. They made their home in Darby, where they raised their seven children. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother, who enjoyed spending time with her family. She was a longtime parishioner of Blessed Virgin Mary Church in Darby, Pa.
Survivors: She is survived by her loving husband of 51 years, Edward Glavin; children, Catherine Glavin Eccles (Frank), Michael (Stephanie), Mary Ann, Ellen, Maurice (Ann); Joseph (Meredith), and Eugene (Judy). She is also survived by 16 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and brothers, Thomas McGinley of Kilmacloo, Ireland, Neil McGinley of Glasgow, Scotland, and Andrew McGinley of Alicante, Spain.
Service and Visitation: The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday January 18, 2011 at Blessed Virgin Mary Church, 1101 Main St., Darby, PA 19023, where there will be a viewing from 9 to 10:30 a.m.
Burial: SS. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Marple.
Donations: Blessed Virgin Mary Church Building Fund in her memory at the above address would be appreciated by the family.
