(McGauley) Galvin of Needham died Sunday, April 15, 2007, at Briarwood Healthcare in Needham. She was 80. Born in Boston, Mrs. Galvin was a former resident of West Roxbury and Jamaica Plain. She was a member of St. Bartholomew's Church Guild and Social Club and had been a volunteer at Glover Memorial Hospital in Needham. She leaves her husband of 55 years, James L. Galvin Jr.; her son, James L. "Jay" Galvin III and his wife, Jill, of Westwood; a brother, Walter J. McGauley and his wife, Helen, of Yarmouth Port; her grandchildren, Jacqueline M., Brittany M. and James L. Galvin IV, all of Westwood; her nephews, Walter McGauley Jr. and his wife, Nora, of Newton, and Gregory McGauley and his wife, Patricia, of Chatham, N.J. She was sister of the late Margery McGauley. Her funeral will be held at 9 a.m., Friday, April 27, from the George F. Doherty and Sons Funeral Home, 1305 Highland Ave., Needham, followed by a funeral Mass in St. Bartholomew Church, Needham. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Needham. Donations in her memory may be made to the Monastery of St. Clare, 920 Centre St., Jamaica Plain, MA 02130.
