"Ex-Sheriff McFerren Dies of Heart Attack.
James F. McFerren, a leading Democrat, died at his farm near St. Thomas this morning, aged 56 years, of heart disease. He had been landlord of a couple of Chambersburg hotels, wholesale liquor dealer, chairman of the Democratic county committee for years, and served from 1903 to 1906 as sheriff of Franklin county. Few men had a wider circle of friends and he was justly popular, belonging to the Masonic and many other fraternities and being most liberal and charitable in disposition."
