Charles McFatridge, Obituary, Died June 16, 1938
Charles McFatridge, age 57 years last May, a former resident of this place, died Thursday morning of last week at 6:00 o'clock at his home at Little River, just north of Miami, Fla. He had been in rapidly failing health since last March. The body has brought to the Thompson Funeral Home here, arriving Sunday forenoon.
The deceased was a native of the Arlington neighborhood, where he resided most of his life. After a brief residence here, he and Mrs. McFatridge went to Florida to make their home, about 15 years ago. He was a member of Rush Lodge No. 580, F. and A. M., of Carthage; member of the M. E. Church of Arlington, and for many years a member of the Arlington Band; also taking an enthusiastic interest in athletics. While in Florida he had been engaged in carpentering.
Surviving him are the widow; two brothers, Fred, south of Arlington, and Harry McFatridge, northwest of there; and two sisters, Mrs. Lena Kennedy of Arlington, and Mrs. Goldie Parish, of Carthage. The funeral services were held here Tuesday morning at 10:00 o'clock at the Thompson Funeral Home, in charge of Rev. H. O. Wedding, M. E. pastor of Arlington. Howard Hauk, of Arlington, rendered two solos, with Mrs. Blanche Garwein, piano accompanist. Burial took place in East Hill cemetery at Arlington, with the Carthage Masonic Lodge having charge of the last rites at the grave. The Arlington Band played funeral dirges at the
