Both of her parents had been previously widowed and had children from those marriages, so Lucinda grew up in a large blended family.
In 1895 she married Robert Dougherty Ambrose. On her marriage license, Lucinda stated that she was a public school teacher in Rural Valley, PA.
Robert and Jeanette had the following children:
- Edgar (1895-1970), married Gertrude Speer.
- Jeannette (1898-?) married (1) a man surnamed Lingenfelter and (2) David Reid.
- Robert Jr. (1909-1995).
- James F. (1911-2002), married (1) Mary Josephine Smith and (2) Isabelle Fleming.
Lucinda's husband, her twin brother George McFarland, and her sons Edgar and Robert Jr. were all dentists.
Lucinda lived to the ripe old age of 103.
