Mary Ellen McElwee Irvine, age 93, of the McElwee farm in Low Moor, Virginia died Thursday afternoon, October 7, 2010 at Alleghany Regional Hospital, Low Moor. She was born February 20, 1917 in Low Moor, the daughter of late William Ledford and Nellie Cole McElwee. She was preceded in death by her husband Thomas Leech "Tom" Irvine and her brother Charles Michael McElwee. She is survived by two daughters, Sally Allen Irvine and husband Bob Maxey of Alexandria, and Rebecca Jane Irvine of Low Moor. She was a member of Low Moor Presbyterian Church, where she was active in the Women of the Church and her Circle. She was also a former member of the Rainbow Garden Club. The funeral service will be conducted on Saturday at 2 PM in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge with the Reverend Lisa Marshall officiating. Interment will follow at Alleghany Memorial Park, Low Moor.
