CONCORD, NH James Pearse McElwee Sr., 91, of Concord, NH, formerly of Wolfeboro, NH and Norwell, MA, died Friday, May 1. Mr. McElwee was born April 4, 1918, in Alexandria, Scotland. He came to the United States in 1924. He is predeceased by his wife of over 50 years, Helen (Winn) McElwee, brothers William and John G. McElwee. Survived by a sister, Maureen C. (McElwee) Moran of Ocala, FL. Father of Patricia DiLorenzo of Wolfeboro, NH, Kate Messinger of Canterbury, NH, Marie Wolfe and Jane McElwee of New London, NH and James Pearse McElwee Jr. of Malden, MA. Also survived by 6 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Mr. McElwee was a WW II veteran, serving in the Navy on a submarine tender in the Pacific. For over 50 years he was a member of St. Helens Church in Norwell, MA, Holy Name Society and St. Vincent DePaul. He was also a member of the Norwell Zoning Board of Appeals, the Norwell High School Scholarship Committee and past president of the American Association of Cost Engineers. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Helens Catholic Church, 383 Washington St., Norwell at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 4. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Concord Regional Visiting Nurse Association, Hospice Services, 30 Pillsbury St., Concord, NH or St. Vincent DePaul Society, St. Helens Church, Norwell.
