T. S. McElhaney died at Hot Springs, S.D., November 10, 19l4, at 3:10 a.m., of a complication of diseases.

Thomas Stoops McElhaney was born near Lexington, Rockbridge County, Virginia. May 13, 1838, and had attained the age of 76 years, 5 months and 26 days. At 13 years of age he came to Illinois, and to Iowa when 20 years of age. He enlisted in Company I, Seventh Iowa cavalry volunteers in 1863. He was married the same year to Miss Isabelle McCurdy in Sioux City. To them were born two little girls, Fannie and Florence. His wife died in 1868. The girls grew up and were married, Fannie to Wm. Saunders, who now lives in Harvey, N.D., and Florence to Wm. Tripp, of New Jersey. Florence died a number of years ago at her father's and was buried in Riverside cemetery, Akron.

In 1871 Mr. McElhaney was married to Miss Minerva E. McDonald, who survives him. To them were born five childrenNellie Grant McElhaney, who died in 1885; Edward, of Chicago; Frank F., of Akron; Jesse M., of Sandusky, Ohio, and Clara Tidd, of Hawarden, Ia.

Funeral services were held last Friday afternoon in the Akron M.E. church, Rev. R.L. Stuart conducting the same. Members of the Akron Masonic lodge, of which deceased had been a member for many years, attended the funeral in a body and conducted the impressive burial service at Riverside cemetery.
