Beloved Mother of All Omega Barial, known by many as "Mickey" passed away on Monday, May 21, 2012, in San Diego, Calif.

She was born on August 12, 1934, in Martinsville, Virginia, to Winfred and Fannie McEachin. Omega loved Virginia and the East Coast, but spent the majority of her adult life living in California. She married her high school sweetheart, Thomas K. Scott, Jr., at age 17 and moved to San Diego in 1954 following his enlistment in the United States Marine Corps.

Omega devoted her life to her six children and taught them the value of family, hard work, knowledge, perseverance, excellence, and pride. She was a caring and loving mother - her kids were the most important thing in her life. She taught them that anyone could do anything and overcome any challenge, if they worked hard and did their very best. She was proud of her children and their success in life and in their careers. She ensured that her children were well prepared for life and did not go without whatever they needed as they grew up in a loving and fun-filled home. She was caring and nurturing, but she also had high standards and expectations of her children and those she loved. She was loved by many and considered the "Mother" to all that knew her as she was always willing to give you motherly advice and guidance, which she gave openly and freely. Omega always made you feel like you were part of the "Scott Family".

She loved people and had a great sense of humor; she enjoyed making people laugh and smile. She was a sports enthusiast and watching football, basketball and baseball was her favorite pastime. She enjoyed following politics and debating with folks about social injustice and making the world in which we live in a better place. Omega was a very strong woman and her strength was an inspiration to all that knew her - she was a powerful and influencing force on the lives of many.

After raising her children as a single mother and dedicating her life to their needs, she met the love of her life, James Barial. They married in 1990 and lived happily together traveling around the country visiting friends and family. They especially enjoyed their trips to Laughlin, Nevada, where James met his untimely death in 2002.

After James' death, Omega moved to Northern California to live with her eldest son in Dublin, California, prior to them relocating to Carlsbad, California, two years ago. The loss of James was devastating, one in which she had a very difficult time overcoming. However, her strength and faith got her through it and guided her daily as she dealt with the trials and tribulations that eventually faced her, especially with her poor health in the last few years of her life.

Omega is survived by her loving children: Kenneth "Kenny" Scott of San Diego, CA, Robin Clark of Fremont, CA, Anthony (Tony) Scott of La Habra, CA, Cheryl Jackson of San Diego, CA, Vincent (Vince) Scott of Fontana, CA, and Jacqueline (Jackie) Westbrook of Bloomington, Indiana; and grandchildren Vincent (Little Vince) Scott, Kenna Scott, Wilmer (Trae) Clark III, Isaiah Clark, Ryan Scott, Kevin Scott, Troy Scott, Joy Jackson, Angelo Jackson, Amber Chin, Amanda Spain and Dimitri Scott; in-laws, step-grandchildren, as well as a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many, many friends. Omega was preceded by her husband James Barial, mother Fannie McEachin and brother Leon McEachin.

Omega blessed all of our lives and will be deeply missed. She was truly an amazing person, mother and friend. She will live on in the smiles of her children, the laughter of her grandchildren, and the hearts of all who loved her. She will never be forgotten and will be forever loved.
