Nancy E. "Sunshine" Bohmler, of East Toledo, age 74, passed away Thursday, October 15, 2009, of cancer surrounded by her loving family.

She was born July 18, 1935 to Theodore and Gladys McDowell in Benton, Tennessee.

Growing up as the daughter of a minister explained Nan's strength of spirit and why she was always a hard worker. She prided herself on a having a clean home and was a wonderful cook as well.

Nancy and Dennis, her husband, enjoyed many adventures together through thick and thin, travels and home life, always working on some kind of project, but always together.

She also had an uncanny ability to attract all kinds of animals from porpoise to deer and she fed them by hand.

Nancy loved her grandchildren very much and took pride in their achievements.

Nancy is survived by her loving husband of 39 years, Dennis E. Bohmler; daughters, Annette (Mark) Crawford and Danette (Bart) Guy; step daughter, Robin Bohmler-Sopko; grandchildren, Stephanie and Thomas Crawford, Matthew Guy and Lindsey Sopko; sisters, Maida Green and Flora (Ronnie) Gilleland, and brother, Earl (Phyllis) McDowell.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her sister, Polly Morris and brother, James McDowell.

Friends and family may visit at Hoeflinger-Bolander Funeral Home, 3500 Navarre Ave., Oregon, on Saturday, October 17, 2009 from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. and Sunday, October 18, 2009 from 2:00 - 8:00 p.m. Prayer Services will begin Monday, October 19, 2009 at 9:15 a.m. in the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Sacred Heart Catholic Church at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery.

The family wishes to thank the ladies from Hospice of Northwest Ohio and Father Jeff from St. Thomas Aquinas Parish for all of their love and support given to Nancy and her family through this difficult time.

Those wishing to make monetary donations are asked to consider Hospice of Northwest Ohio or Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
