Sister Johanna was the 2nd of seven children born to Michael & Katherine. Her given name at birth in 1854 was Julia. She entered into the novitiate of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet in St. Paul, Minnesota in 1880. She professed her vows in 1882 at the age of 28. Her missions in her 71 years of religious life took her to the St. Joseph's Hospital in St. Paul, the Catholic Boys Home in Minneapolis, the St. John's Hospital in Fargo, North Dakota, and the St. Michael's Hospital at Grand Forks, North Dakota. She came to St. Joseph's Hospital in 1942 due to sickness & died there on April 5, 1951 at the age of 97.
