NAMPA — Services for Charley "Mac" Merle McDermott, 67, Nampa, who died Saturday at a Boise hospital after a long illness, will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Alsip Chapel, Nampa, by the Rev. Leo W. Reed, Nampa First Baptist Church. Interment will be in Hillcrest Cemetery, with military graveside rites by American Legion Joseph H. Murray Post No. 18.
He was born May 12, 1909, at Benkelman, Neb. He was reared and attended schools in Nebraska. He entered the U.S. Army in 1933 and served for 13 years. He received an American Defense Ribbon, European African Middle Theater Ribbon, and a Good Conduct Medal. He was a locomotive fireman in the Army. He married Nellie May Thompson May 27, 1947, at Twin Falls. They moved to Salt Lake City in 1950 and to Nampa in 1958, where they had lived since. He was a former member of the Moose Lodge No. 1430, Nampa.
Surviving are his wife, Nampa; four step-sons, Raymond "Bud" Perkins, Nampa, Clinton Perkins, Meridian, and Bruce and Lee Perkins, both Boise; six stepdaughters, Ann McKee, Kuna, LaVon Wayman, Burns, Ore., Joan Good, Nampa, Nellie Young, Georgene Dunn, both Sandy, Utah, and Jackqulyn Benner, Nampa; three brothers, Jerry, Meridian, Larry, Montana, and Bud, Caldwell; six sisters, Alla Provience, Caldwell, Nellie Eason, Parma, Ruby Bailey, Coos Bay, Ore., Velma Derrick, Canada, Verla Baxter, Kennewick, Wash., and Beulah Voss, Yakima, Wash,; his mother, Sylvia, Adrian, Ore.; 35 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister, a brother and his father.
