Services for Vera B. Martin, 92, of Marietta, were held at 2 p.m., Thursday, December 4, at the Rubottom Baptist Church, with Bro. Jim May officiating, assisted by Chaplain Jeff Davis.
Mrs. Martin was born November 10, 1911, at Rubottom, the daughter of James B. and Emma Cantrell McDaniel. She died Monday, December 1, 2003, in Lake Country Nursing Center, Marietta.
She had been a resident of Love County all of her life. She and James Walter Martin were married January 16, 1932, and he preceded her in death on January 5, 1975. Mrs. Martin was a homemaker and also helped her husband on the family farm. She was a member of the Rubottom Baptist Church.
Survivors include a sister, Maxine Bradley of Marietta; and two nieces, Sondra White and Barbara Tolbert.
Mrs. Martin was also preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, James Lawson McDaniel in 1990 and Carl C. McDaniel in 1991.
Pallbearers were Harold White, W.A. Auld, Dillon May, Danny May, Greg Hallum and Ronald Hallum. Honorary pallbearers were R.B. Romines, Charlie Rowe, Sammie Joe Phillips, Royce Willis, Jerry Hawkins, Dub Bell, Steve Bell and Bill Bell.
Interment was in the Rubottom Cemetery, under the direction of Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home.
