Stroud American8 June 1961Rites Held For Mrs. J. C. AlleyServices for Mrs. J. C. Alley were held Thursday afternoon at the First Baptist church. Mrs. Madge Goldsmith read the Christian Science services. Mrs. Alley died Tuesday after a long illness.Bessie Augusta McDaniel was born Nov. 3, 1888 in Pulaski County, Mo. She came to Oklahoma in September 1903 and had resided here since that time. She was married to J. C. Alley in September 1916. They had been retired from the farm for several years.Survivors include one son, W. E. Payne of Stroud; one daughter, Mrs. Lydia Broomfield of Pomona, Calif.; five brothers, Ralph and Ray McDaniel, Stroud, Gene McDaniel, Stillwater, Lucien McDaniel, Buffalo, Mo., David McDaniel, Yamhill, Oregon; one sister, Mrs. Grace Messersmith, Lawndale, Calif.; seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.Burial was in Stroud cemetery under direction of McVey Funeral home.
