Capitola E. Akeman, age 79 of Columbia, Missouri a former Marshall resident, died Thursday November 7, 2002 at West Village Manor in Columbia, Missouri.
Born December 27, 1922 in Knob Noster, Missouri she was the daughter of the late George and Clara Cox McDaniel. On January 7, 1948 in Slater, MO., she married John L. Akeman and he preceded her in death on March 18, 1997. She was a resident of Marshall for many years and had moved to Fayette, Mo in 1968.
She and her husband farmed in Howard County and she was employed at the National Garment Factory form 1969 until her retirement. She had resided in Columbia since 1997. She was a Methodist.
Survivirs include two sons: Franklyn Gifford of Clinton, MO and James E. Gifford of Fayette, MO: two daughters: Mary Kathryn Durham of Belt, Montana and Martha Sue Cochran of Columbia, MO., four brothers Charles and Harold McDaniel both of Marshall, Kenneth McDaniel of Independence, Mo and Marion McDaniel of Fort Worth, Texas; two sisters Ruby Zimmerman and Esther Richards both of Marshall; fourteen grandchildren;twenty four great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one brother, two sisters and three great grandchildren.
