Sophia was the daughter of
Frank McDaniel and
Mary Ellen Gum.
She was married to
Cassius Smith Baker
on 12 Jun 1895 in
Champaign, Champaign Co., IL.
They had ten children:
Ruth E. Baker (Coppock),
Ellen Baker (Farlee),
Cassius Baker,
Ivy June Baker (Ostrand),
John Cyrus Baker,
Mildred Baker (Snodgrass),
Frances Baker (Nott),
Sarah Baker (Wilson),

MRS. SOPHIA BAKER
DIES EARLY TODAY

Mrs. Sophia B. Baker of 417 Park
Avenue, Indianapolis, for many
year a Morgan County resident,
died soon after 2 o'clock this morn-
ing at the home of her daughter,
Mrs Ellen Farlee, at 633 South
Walker in Bloomington.
Mrs. Baker had been ill for the
last few months and had been at
her daughter's home for two weeks.
Born in Morgan County Feb. 6,
1875, she was the daughter of
Frank and Mary Ellen Gumm Mc-
Daniel.
In 1895 she was married in
Champaign, Ill., to Cassius Baker,
whose death occurred in Novem-
ber 1939. The family lived in In-
diana and then in Illinois until 35
years ago when they returned to
Morgan County to stay. Mrs Baker
was a member of the Liberty
Church.
Surviving her are a son and five
daughters, John Cyrus Baker, Mrs
Frances Nott, and Mrs. Mildred
Snodgrass of Indianapolis, Mrs Iva
Ostrand of Chicago, Mrs Farlee of
Bloomington, and Mrs Sara Wil-
son of Paragon; a sister and two
brothers, Mrs. Bruce Smith, John
McDaniel and Luford McDaniel,
all of Martinsville, 18 grandchil-
dren and seven great-grandchil-
dren. Four sons and daughter
preceded their mother in death.
Funeral services will be held at
the Liberty Church Saturday after-
noon at 2 o'clock, with burial in
the cemetery by the church.
Friends may call at the Wilhite and
Son Funeral Home any time after
7 o'clock this evening.
