Margaret M. Durbin, 86, of Independence, died Saturday, July 12, at West Village Care Center, Independence, following a long illness.
She was born Sept. 21, 1921, in Lincoln, Neb., daughter of John and Stephanie LaPorte McCullough. On June 16, 1940, she married Ray D. Durbin. He preceded her in death Dec. 8, 2007.
She worked for the Independence High School as the head cook until her retirement in 1980.
Survived by: three daughters, Kathleen Blad of Daytona Beach, Fla., Linda Smith of Jesup and Diane Stewart of Hudson, Wis.; two sons, John of Hudson, Wis., and Charles of Fircrest, Wash.; 15 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by: three brothers, John McCullough, the Rev. Francis McCullough and Richard McCullough.
Services: 1:30 p.m. Monday at St. John's Catholic Church, Independence, with burial in St. John's Cemetery. Public visitation from 3:30 to 7 p.m. today at Reiff Funeral Home & Crematory, Independence, where there will be a 3:30 p.m. rosary and at 7 p.m. a time to share memories.
