Elizabeth McCullough Ihlefeld, 84, born February 3, 1922 in Jacksonville, passed away on Sunday November 5, 2006 in Panama City, FL where she has been residing since 2004 after suffering from a stroke.

She graduated from Andrew Jackson High School in 1940, then worked for a short time as a telephone operator and later at Towers Hardware where she met her future husband, Willard H. Ihlefeld. They were married on February 7, 1942 and lived happily for 62 years.

Elizabeth joined Hendricks Avenue Baptist Church in 1949 where she was an active member and sang in the choir for many, many years. Willard and Elizabeth moved to Julington Creek in 1951 where they raised their two children, Mark Ihlefeld and Mary Ellen Gorman.

She is predeceased by her husband Willard and her brother, Schley W. McCullough. She is survived by her two children, Mark of Panama City, Mary Ellen (and husband Chip) of Tallahassee, granddaughter Morgan Ihlefeld of Tallahassee, a sister Mildred Wood of Jacksonville, a niece Sharon Preston of Palatka along with many cousins, great-nieces & nephews and a great-great nephew.

She was a wonderful and caring wife, mother and friend to all. Her loving compassion and strong commitment to her family, church and friends will remain close to our hearts and will not be forgotten.

Graveside services will be conducted at Oaklawn Cemetery, 4801 San Jose Blvd., Wednesday, November 8th, at 1pm. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in her name to Hendricks Avenue Baptist Church, 4001 Hendricks Ave. Jacksonville, FL 32207 or Covenant Hospice 107 West 19th Street, Panama City, FL 32405. Arrangements are by Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home, 4115 Hendricks Avenue.
