Robert John McCue, 61, of Middletown, Del., formerly of Brick, died Wednesday, June 10, 2009, in Brick, after a short illness. He was surrounded by family and friends. He graduated from Trenton State College with a BA Degree in Criminal Justice. Bob entered the N.J. State Police in 1968. He served primarily in the Narcotic Bureau, and the Organized Crime Bureau, where he attained the rank of lieutenant. He also served with the Alcoholic Beverage Control Bureau and the N.J. Sports Authority Bureau. Bob retired after 26 years of service and began a career in the insurance fraud industry working for Harleysville Ins. Co. and for the Proformance Insurance Co. He was a Fraud Claims Loss Specialist, a member of the N.J. Special Investigators Association, the Society of Investigators of Newark, the Vehicle Theft Investigators Association, the Former Troopers Association, and the American Legion Post #348 of Brick. He retired from the insurance industry in 2008, and moved with his wife, Mary Lou to Middletown, Del. He loved the beach, playing golf, visiting his grandchildren and traveling with Mary Lou. Bob will be deeply missed by friends and family.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Lou of 39 years; a son, Brian McCue and wife Merrilee; daughter, Meredith Loosararian and husband Derek; three brothers, John McCue and wife Lois, Jim McCue and wife Sherry, and Frank McCue and wife Joan; two sisters, Patricia Gold and husband Herb, and Mary Smicklo and husband Ike; and three grandchildren, Carson and Gavin McCue, and Brooke Loosararian; and 12 nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Mass will be offered at 9:30 a.m. Monday, June 15 at St. Justin R.C. Church, Toms River; arrive at the funeral home at 8:30 a.m. Cremation is private.
