LOWVILLE — Shirley J. McCue Adydan, 78, of Clinton Street, died at her home on Saturday morning, March 10, 2012, under the care of her family and Lewis County Hospice.
She is survived by two sons and their wives, Joseph and Janelle Adydan of Morgan City, LA; Jeffrey and Jeannine Adydan of Rochester, NY; two daughters and a son-in-law, Jeanne Adydan of Lowville, Janet and Don Stewart of Saratoga Springs, NY; Five grandchildren, Brian and Mark Stewart, Chet, Carly, and Jill Adydan. Three sisters and a brother-in-law, Anna and Raymond Gordon, Doris Stanton, Sarah Tiffany, all of Lowville; two brothers and four sisters-in-law, Paul and Pauline McCue of North Carolina, John and Dot McCue of Lowville, Gloria Adydan of Syracuse, Genevieve Strife of Lowville,; several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Adydan is predeceased by her husband, Chet; a sister, Mary Kelly and a brother, Robert McCue.
Mrs. Adydan was born on April 26, 1933 in Lowville, NY, daughter of the late Melvin and Ella Meyer McCue. She graduated from Lowville Academy in 1951. Upon graduation, she attended business school in Syarcuse. On November 24, 1953, she married Chester J. Adydan at Trinity Episcopal Church, Lowville, with Rev. Arnold Pederson officiating. Together with her husband, Chester, the couple owned and operated the Adydan family farm on Clinton Street from 1953 until 1972. She was employed by the Lewis Co. Chamber of Commerce from 1965 to 1972. She then was employed by the Lewis County Highway Department as Senior Account Clerk/Typist, from 1972 until her retirement in 1993.
She was an active member of Trinity Episcopal Church, Lowville.
Shirley enjoyed growing flowers, crafts, traveling, reading, family pets, and most of all, she loved her family.
The funeral will be at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 14, 2012 at Trinity Episcopal Church, Lowville with Rev. Walter Giles, officiating. Burial will follow in Lowville Rural Cemetery.
