Party Marks Mrs. Hawpe's 88th Birthday

Cement - Mrs. Annie Hawpe, a former resident of Cement now living in Oklahoma City, was honored on her 88th birthday anniversary with a party in the home of her youngest daughter, Mrs. C. O. Blurton.

Five of Mrs. Hawpe's eight children were present. They were Mrs. Ray McConnell, Geary; Mrs. Richard Reed and Eston Hawpe, Oklahoma City; A. R. Hawpe, Chickasha and Mrs. Blurton.

Her other children unable to attend were Mrs. Lucille Gibson, Phoenix, Ariz.; Charley Hawpe, Anaheim, Calif., and Forest Hawpe, Orange, Calif.

Mrs. Hawpe, a native of Kentucky, came to Oklahoma in *1894 with her husband and settled near Cement where Mr. Hawpe farmed. In 1930 they moved to Oklahoma City, and he died there in 1934.

Mrs. Hawpe has 38 grandchildren, 82 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great grandchildren.

* Since her first 5 children were all born in Lynnville, Graves Co., KY between 1893 and 1903. They didn't move to Oklahoma until 1904. Eston was born in Cement, Caddo Co., OK in October 1905.



Services for Mrs. Annie May Hawpe, 98, of 2205 SW 61 Ter., who died Friday at a city nursing home, will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday at Vondel L. Smith Mortuary, Oklahoma City, burial at 2 p.m. Monday in Cement Cemetery, Cement.

Mrs. Hawpe, a member of South Walker Church of Christ, was born in Lynville, KY., and moved to Anadarko in 1904. She had lived in Oklahoma City since 1930.

Surviving are two sons, Charlie, Phoenix, Ariz. and Forrest, of Calif. and four daughters. Mrs. C.O. Blurton, of the home; Mrs. Lucille Gibson, Phoenix; Mrs. Bessie McConnell, Foss; and Mrs. Richard Reed; 2337 SW 45. 35 grandchildren, 106 great-grandchildren and 82 great-great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.

The Oklahoman -- Oklahoma City, Oklahoma County, Oklahoma -- April 14, 1973 -- Saturday.
