Mollie Rachel (Edwards) McCreery, 89, of Vevay, died Thursday, Jan. 29, 2009 at The Waters of Clifty Falls in Madison.
She was born Nov. 3, 1919, in Kentucky, the daughter of Christopher and Fannie Lee (Crutcher) Edwards. She was a homemaker on a family farm and a member of the Rutel Chapel United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, Center Square Homemakers Club and the Switzerland County Historical Society.
She is survived by one son, Claude "Bud" McCreery of Henderson, NC; six grandchildren, several great-grandchildren; great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edgar V. McCreery Sr., whom she married Nov. 23, 1935; her parents; one daughter, Wilma Rachel McCreery; one son, Edgar V. McCreery Jr., two brothers, Bernie and Jesse D. Edwards; two sisters, Lola Beatrice Cook and Josephine Bowen; and two infant grandchildren.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home in Vevay. Burial will be at Ghent Masonic Cemetery in Ghent, Ky.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 4 to 7 p.m. on Sunday.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the American Cancer Society, St. Jude's Children's Hospital and the American Heart Association. Contribution cards are available at the funeral home.
