FLORENCE - Funeral services for Mrs. Barbara "Moose" Jean McCray Epps will be conducted 12:00 noon Saturday, May 11, 2013 at the Believers Holiness Convention Center, Coward. Burial will follow in Rest Lawn Cemetery, Lake City. She died on Monday, May 6, 2013 in the McLeod Hospice House after an illness.

"Moose", as she was affectionately called, was born July 1, 1949 in Florence County to J. K. Walker and Idus McCray. She attended Olanta Training School, Olanta, SC and Carver High School, Lake City, SC. She was a member of Greater Saint Stephens Baptist Church where she served on the Usher Board, Gospel Choir and Chairman of the Youth Choir until her health declined. She was also a member of Jordan Chapter #237 Order of Eastern Star.

"Moose" was preceded in death by her father; husband, James Epps, Jr.; brothers, Donald Walker and Napolean McCray; and sister, Linda Walker.

Survivors besides her mother are: three daughters, Angel (Joseph) Harris of the home; Harriette (Lewis) Scott of Olanta, SC and Sonia McElveen of Lake City, SC; one son, Rev. James McFadden of Olanta, SC; ten grandchildren; five great grands; sisters, Ruthie Timmons and Pearl Epps of Olanta, SC; Linda (Levern) Gamble of Lynchburg, SC; Shirley Burgess of Lake City, SC; Minnie Ruth (Grady) Johnson, Phyllis (George) Jones and Emma Jean Walker, all of Florence, SC; brothers, Willie McCray of Turbeville, SC; Luke (Linda) McCray, Monroe (Mary) McCray, Benjamin (Elizabeth) McCray, all of Olanta, SC and J. A. (Mary) Walker of New Zion, SC; sisters-in-law, Georgiana McCray, Carolyn Epps of Florence, SC and Mary McGill of Turbeville, SC; brothers-in-law, Jasper Epps, Randolph Epps of Olanta, SC and Stanley McAllister of New York; uncle, Elmore McCray of Boynton Beach, FL; aunts, Mary E. Graham of Lake City, SC and Emma McKenzie of Scranton, SC; special friends and caregiver, Mary Barron and Lonell Ray; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

EOS rites will be 7:00 p.m. this evening at the funeral home. The family is receiving friends at the home of her mother, Mrs. Idus McCray, 12480 Lynches River Road, Olanta.
