She was a past member of the YWCA of the Harbor Area and sponsored teen-age groups. Mrs. McCowan also drove for the Foundation for the Blind. She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Roy, the owner of McCowan's Market in San Pedro; two daughters, Linda Burriss of Vista and Leslie Oliveri of San Pedro; and five grandchildren. Services are a 1 p.m. at Green Hills Mortuary, Rancho Palos Verdes. Donations can be made to the San Pedro Peninsula Hospital Heart Fund.
