Inace M. Andrews, 79, a resident of the Wenatchee Valley and Entiat for most of her life and former owner of the Lake Entiat Fruit Stand, passed away on Wednesday, July 1, 2009, at Central Washington Hospital, following an extended illness. She was born on July 5, 1929, at Port Angeles, WA, to the late Vernon and Velma (Snode) McCord. As a young child, she moved with her family to Wenatchee. She attended Wenatchee schools and Wenatchee High School. Following high school, she went to work at the Cascadian Hotel. While working at the Cascadian Hotel, she met Robert E. "Bob" Andrews and they were later married on July 28, 1950, in Wenatchee. They made their first home together in Wenatchee. In the spring of 1966, they purchased the Lake Entiat Fruit Stand and ten acres of orchard land. They operated the fruit stand and expanded their orchard operations. Their fruit stand became well known for their friendly mascots, Mork and Mindy, their free willed pet magpies. In the fall of 1995, they sold their fruit stand and moved, to make their home in Wenatchee. Inace was a member of the Wenatchee Valley Baptist Church. She was a very talented artist and painted their back yard into a paradise, as well as decorating their home and she even painted some commissioned portraits. She enjoyed her gift of art and especially loved her family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Randy and Linda Andrews of Yakima and Ron and Sandra Andrews of East Wenatchee; one daughter and son-in-law, Marti and Michael Anthis of Omaha, NE; two brothers, Clayton McCord and Dan McCord, both of Entiat; three sisters, Mary Helen Seat of Entiat, Donella Fechner of Wenatchee and Lily Ann Saunders of Puyallup; 11 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert E. "Bob" Andrews on June 14, 2009; her son, Robert Andrews Jr., PhD; one brother, Vincent McCord; one sister, Beverly Phillips; one granddaughter; and two great-granddaughters.
Commemoration Services will be held on Thursday, July 9, 2009, at 11:00 a.m. at Wenatchee Valley Baptist Church, 650 Crawford, Wenatchee, with the Rev. Bill Lane officiating.
