Married Jewell Comelia Farel, April 7, 1935
He was a Teacher! He attended college at Springfield, MO. and taught his first school at Lewisburg, MO.. He then moved to Bakersfield, MO. to teach in one room schools at Barn Creek and Plum Hollow. Then to Bakersfield High where he taught math and science for the next 19 years. While teaching, he ran a small farm and raised most of the food his family needed.
Next he taught at Humansville, MO, then to Pierce City for another 11 years. After 30 years in public schools he found a job at the MO. State Chest Hospital until he retired at age of 67. After retiring he enjoyed golf and fishing.
A few years after his wife retired they moved back to the farm they bought in 1935 at Bakersfield. They became members of the Bakersfield Community Service Club and he became Sec.-Treasure of Baptist Hill Cemetery.
He was a member of Bridges Creek Baptist Church and was ordained a Deacon of the Church.
He is proceed in death by his youngest son, James Michael McConnell (21410802).
