Dortha Belle Brown, 79, died Nov. 10, 2008, at her home in Sikeston, MO.
Born July 14, 1929, in Morehouse, MO, to the late Athel Edward and Maggie Reynolds McConnell, she had worked as an operator at Southwestern Bell, a clerk at Big K and also worked for Anchor Toy. She was a member of North Acres General Baptist Church.
On July 26, 1948, in Piggott, AR, she married Charles Brown, Jr who survives of the home.
Other survivors include: two sons and daughters-in-law, Gary Wayne & Grace Brown and Timothy & Tonya Brown; a daughter and son-in-law, Catherine and Dennis Reed; four brothers, L.C. McConnell, Earl McConnell, Athel McConnell and Gerald McConnell; three sisters, Alma Riney and Martha Howell and Brenda Vaughn; six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one son, Charles David Brown, and two brothers.
Visitation was at the Nunnelee Funeral Chapel, where services were conducted. The Rev. James Trotter, former pastor of North Acres General Baptist Church officiated with assistance by current pastor, the Rev. Steve Tippen.
Burial followed in the Garden of Memories Cemetery.
