She married her high school sweetheart, Donald Ray Dickerson on December 14, 1954 in Greenfield, Missouri. They settled on a farm southeast of Greenfield in 1966. Along with being a homemaker, Chris very much enjoyed the farm life of raising chickens, ducks, peacocks, and guineas. She was also known for her love of children, and babysat many from the area throughout the years. She was a member of the Worldwide Church of God.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Clinton and Dorothy McConnell; and her husband, Donald Dickerson.
Survivors include her son, Michael Ray Dickerson of Ozark, MO; her daughter, Lynnette Ammel of Paola, KS; one brother, Cletis McConnell of Greenfield, MO; four sisters, Cleo Vaughn of Greenfield, MO, Carolyn Sue McConnell of Greenfield, MO, Lou Miller of Springfield, MO, and Cathy McWilliams of Jefferson City, MO; two grandchildren, Shanta Dickerson of Overland Park, KS, and Joseph Ammel of Overland Park, KS; five step-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, February 27, 2014 at 2 p.m. in the Greenfield Funeral Chapel, 61 North Allison, Greenfield, Missouri.
