Obituary from Choctaw Nation Biskinik:

Born: 10/22/1911
Died: 7/27/2008
Maiden Name: McClure
Velma McClure Branham, 96, of Lexington passed away on July 27, 2008. She was born on October 22, 1911, in Tuskahoma. Her parents were Willis McClure and Zona Anderson McClure. While Velma was a young child, her mother Zone, married Watson James Wright.

Velma was full-blood Choctaw and was a lovely lady. She was dearly loved by all and will be sorely missed. Her education was an Indian girls' school. After the school she was attending burned down, she moved to Chilocco girls' school. Barton, her younger brother, attended Jones Academy. As a single parent, she felt her greatest accomplishment was raising her sons. During World War II, Velma worked for the government sewing canvas canteen covers, tents, utility belts, etc. She loved life, family, people, and laughter. Though she never learned to drive, Velma loved to travel and to go fishing with Jimmy. Later in life, she took care of stray cats and had said that was the main reason she got out of bed in the morning.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James "Jimmy" Braham, and younger brother, Barton William Wright.

Survivors include sons, Paul King of San Diego, California, and George King of Maywood, California; nephews, Barton William Wright Jr. of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Melvin Wright of Mesquite, Nevada, Roger Edwin Wright of Buena Park, California; niece, Patricia Ann Wright Ammann of San Antonio, Texas, and numerous stepchildren.
