Martha Anne Benke,60, of Austin, Texas, went to be with Jesus on Thursday, Dec 1, 2011.
She was a local business owner and music teacher at Benke Piano. She was an avid supporter of local music and music education, and shared her passion with many students over the years. Martha was also a proponent of homeschooling, and chose to homeschool her two childred for several years, encouraging them to be active in both arts and sports.
She was the wife of an Air Force officer, enjoying travel around the world, and supported her husband in tours of duty that included Germany, the Panama Canal and many stateside assignments.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Allison Rene, in 1981, and her father, Vernon McClure, in 2010.
She is survived by her husband, Dan; her daughter and son-in-law, Kaile and Gary Mizell, and their son, Jack; her son and daughter-in-law, Trey and Beth Benke; her mother, Nellie McClure, of Clinton, Okla.
The family will receive friends at 3 p.m. and funeral services will follow at 4 p.m., Sunday, Dec 4,2011 in the Chapel of Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Funeral Home, 6300 W. William Cannon Drive in Austin, Texas. Pastor Nathan Benke will officiate. Interment will be held at 11 a.m. at
Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio, Texas.
