|Death: ||Oct. 11, 1920|
Elizabeth McClure was born in Grant County, Indiana, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John McClure, of rural Wabash County, Indiana.
Elizabeth was reared till the age of three years in Grant County, and then her parents went to Champaign County, Illinois, returning to Wabash County when Elizabeth was twelve years old. She received her education in the common schools and the Marion City public schools. She later taught in Grant and Wabash counties.
Elizabeth was married on October 4, 1864 in Wabash County to William Wallace Ford, son of William Johnson and Mary (McGee) Ford of Wabash. They had three sons: William Johnson II (1865), James Edwin (1866) and Walter Wallace (1869) Ford; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
When the couple began married life it was on the old Ford homestead, and their pretty estate and all improvements were been acquired by their own toil and frugality, with what inheritance had been left them. She valiantly stood by the side of her husband all these years in the establishment of their beautiful home. Elizabeth was known as a lady of most pleasing address and had that cordiality of manner which made her home a paradise.
Elizabeth's father-in-law, William Johnson Ford, was a brother of Dr. James Ford of Wabash.
Died at age 78 years, 1 month, 2 days.
