Services for Sevelia Margaret McClendon Andrews, 95, of Lufkin, will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, September 14, 2006, in the Gipson-Metcalf Funeral Home Chapel, with Reverend Jim Powell officiating. Interment will follow in the Fairview Cemetery.
Mrs. Andrews was born August 24, 1911, in Lufkin, Texas, the daughter of the late Pearlee (Green) and Richard Montgomery McClendon. She passed away Monday, September 11, 2006, in a local hospital. Mrs. Andrews was a homemaker, and a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She always made sure that her family was loved, cared for and provided for. She enjoyed farming, and was an avid hunter and fisherwoman. She was of the Methodist Faith.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, James Richard and Sara Andrews of Diboll; daughter and son-in-law, Birdine Andrews Landrum and Jimmy Landrum of Diboll; grandchildren, Michael Andrews, Mark Andrews, Patress Andrews Schaeffer, Bennye Shane Thornton and Ginny Landrum Spurgers; and great-grandchildren, Jack Schaeffer, Kelly Schaeffer, Hope Andrews, Alayna Andrews, Jacob Thornton and Riley Thornton. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Andrews was preceded in death by her husband, James Robert Andrews; and granddaughter, Shanda Chantille Thornton.
Pallbearers will be Michael Andrews, Mark Andrews and Shane Thornton. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday evening at Gipson-Metcalf Funeral Home. Gipson-Metcalf Funeral Directors; Joni Johnson, director.
