Gracie V. (Havard) McClendon, 89, of Oyster Creek, Texas, passed away Wednesday, June 29, 2005, at Angleton Danbury Medical Center in Angleton, Texas.
She was a Brazosport area resident for 60-plus years and was a member of First Baptist Church of Oyster Creek. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother, and will be missed by her family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, June 30, 2005, at Stroud Funeral Home in Clute, Texas, with Pastor Rick Helton officiating.
Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery in Lufkin.
She is survived by her daughter, Joyce Vandergrifft of Oyster Creek; sons, Bobby Ross McClendon of Lufkin and Gene McClendon and wife, Magdalene, of Oyster Creek; sisters, Irene Pruett of Lufkin, Opal Wonzer of Katy and Helen Johnson of Lufkin; 11 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; 15 great-great-grandchildren; and many other loving relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford Eugene McClendon; two brothers; and two sisters.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons.
