Blanche Helen Wilson
January 14, 1917-October 13, 2006
Blanche Helen Wilson, 89, of El Centro passed away in her home on
October 13, 2006 from complications of a stroke. Blanche was born on
January 14, 1917 in Hot Springs Co., Arkansas to William Elmore and
Lanty Pearline McClard. Before the end of the year they moved to the
Imperial Valley. Blanche was one of eleven children. She remained in
the Valley for 88 years.

During her adult years Blanche worked at several businesses in the
Valley including a plant nursery, an arts and craft store and the
bowling alley. She participated in softball, pairs roller skating and
league bowling. She was a member of the F.O.E. Woman's Auxiliary for
many years. Her hobbies included traveling, arts and crafts, painting,
gardening and crocheting. She will be greatly missed by her loved ones.

Blanche was preceded in death by her husband of 39 years, Bob Wilson, in
1986 and her son, Roger Wilson, in 2001. She is survived by brothers
Berton of Chino Hills, CA and Gene of Winslow, AZ; her sister Irene
Lanzon of Stayton, OR; daughters Phyllis Arnett Cook and Merlene Wilson
both of El Centro; son Larry Clay of Yucaipa, CA; stepdaughter Sharon
Heaton; stepson Bobby Wilson of Torrance, CA; six grandchildren, five
great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

At Blanche's request there were no services. Her family will distribute
her ashes according to her wishes.

This is the second obituary I've gotten to write. A lot of my Grandma's
life is not included. How do you put in there that she was married
three times, had a boyfriend for 20 years during her third marriage and
that her second son was fathered by her second husband while she was
with her third husband? She would point out that she WAS a virgin the
first time she got married. Even though everyone knew about my Uncle's
paternity, she never even whispered a word about it until he died. Oh,
my Grandma was colorful! Her favorite curse words were ones that were
against God or started with an f. She loved chocolate of any kind or
form. She was also survived by her cockatiel, Baby, that is 23 years
old. I love my Grandma most dearly and I know she loved me
unconditionally. She got me hooked on Johnny Carson at eight years old.
She bought me Pee Wee dolls when I was little and also bought me my
last doll, Swingy, when I was 11. I moved to Arizona ten years ago 250
miles from her. I was close enough to see her often and I did. Taking
my four daughters and later my granddaughter to visit her. She made a
handful of trips to Arizona. Once she came so I could take her to see a
performance by Hank Thompson. He used to come to the Valley to play.
Another to visit her brother in Payson just a week before he passed
away. Before we moved to Arizona she made trips to Oregon to visit
family and for special occasions in our lives. I am at peace with our
relationship and said everything I needed to say to her in life. Her
request for her ashes were that half of them be put with her son's in
the Pacific Ocean off the Sunset Cliffs in San Diego and half be placed
on the same ledge at the Devils Punchbowl in Newport, Oregon where we
placed her husband Bob's. My Grandpa was her first husband. I was her
first grandchild. The last time I saw her was October 1st. I knew I
wouldn't see her again. I had to make a trip to Texas. Her last
response to me was "I love you too sweetheart". RIP Grandma
