Jane O. McCawley Kelly, 85, 2017 Ridgewood Drive, died Friday June 2, 2006 at her residence.
She was born on Oct. 26, 1920, in Springfield, Ky., the daughter of William Howell and Mary Allethaire Medley McCawley. She was raised in Springfield and was a graduate of St. Catherine's College with a liberal arts degree.
On Dec. 20, 1941, she married Richard E. Kelly II. After World War II, the two moved to Madison and co-owned and operated Kelly Brother's Ace Hardware store on the corner of Walnut and Main street from 1946 until 1977. She was a member of the Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Madison.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband of 58 years; a son, J. Spalding Kelly; two sisters, Isabelle McCawley Ballard and Rose Michelle McCawley Clarkson and a brother, George Nedley McCawley.
Surviving are two daughters, Georgellen "Georgie" Kelly and Jane Michelle Kelly, both of Madison; three sons, Richard E. Kelly, III of Prospect, Ky., William Howell McCawley, of Connersville and Benjamin F. Kelly of Madison; 16 grandchildren; 16 great- grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews and other relatives.
Funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Monday, June 5, 2006 at the Prince of Peace Catholic Church.
Friends and family may call Sunday June 4, 2006 from 5-7 p.m. at the Morgan and Nay Funeral Centre. Monday calling will be from 10-10:30 a.m. at the funeral home, and Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the time of Mass at the St. Dominic Catholic Church in Springfield, Ky.
