Dorothy Faye (McCarty) Canon, 89, born 8/28/1923 in Benkelman, Nebraska passed away in her sleep on October 20, 2012.

Dorothy graduated from East High School in 1940. She married her childhood sweetheart Robert Kenneth Canon in 1942 at Wesley United Methodist Church, which they were and remain as life long members. They had two daughters and one son, five grandsons, and six great grandchildren. Dorothy was a homemaker, loved cooking and sewing, but greatly loved raising her children and grandchildren. She was very dedicated to all her family and friends, and loved them dearly.

Aside from her home and family obligations, she found time for civic and fun activities. She was a past member of the DSM Womens Club, PEO, Questors, and two ladies luncheon groups. She also belonged to Wesley United Womens and taught Sunday school and bible study at church youth programs.

Dorothy is survived by her husband, Bob, sister Doris Merrill and family, daughters, Nancy Crauer and Janis Gipple (Mike) and all her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and son, Rex.

Her body will be cremated and a graveside interment service of the cremains will be held for immediate family at Resthaven Cemetery. A gathering for family and friends will be held at Wesley Methodist Church on November 4 beginning at 12 p.m., following the regular morning service.
