The Texas Death Certificate for Ollie J. McCarty shows that he was born in Garvin County, OK on 14 Feb 1907 to parents O. L McCarty and Betty Brown. He was living in Ft. Worth Texas at the time of his death with residence located at 2269-1/2 Chambers Street in Ft Worth.

He died of pneumonia in John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth, Tarrant County; Cause of death was pneumonia. The DC lists his occupation as a welder in construction business and that he had been married but was divorced by the time of his death.

It goes on to show that his body was removed to Garvin County, OK for burial in Whitebeed (SIC) Cemetery. Informant on the death certificate was signed by O.L. McCarty.

We have searched for records to determine the name of his wife but so far have been unable to find positive proof. It is believed that he might have been married to Bess McCall who was born March 09, 1909 in Milam or Reynods County, Texas and was sincle living in Hillsboro, Texas working as a school teacher in 1930. Undocumented sources claim she married a "Jack" McCarty on December 19, 1943 and that they were divorced in 1949. The 1949 Fort Worth, Texas, City Directory showed that a Mrs Bess M Mccarty, occupation clerk, was living at 4104 Penrose St., Fort Worth, Texas.

Bess died in Ft. Worth, Texas on February 17, 1973. Her Death Certificate indicated that she had been a Ft Worth resident for 27 years, implying that she had moved there about 1946. Thus, she had been living in Ft. Worth 3 years when she divorced Mr. McCarty. Family oral history said that her ex-husband died in Ft. Worth in 1954.
