Troy—Marion C. McCarthy Breton, 96, formerly of Sixth Avenue, Troy, died Friday, April 20, 2007 at the Springs Nursing & Rehab Center in Troy.
Born in Troy, she was the daughter of the late James McCarthy and Mary (Reynolds) McCarthy and wife of the late Arthur F. Breton. She had resided in Raymertown and Troy all her life and attended a one room school house in Raymertown and St. Peter’s School in Troy. Mrs. Breton was a homemaker. She was a communicant of St. Augustine’s Church. For many years, Marion was postmistress of Petersburg while operating a general store for 35 years on the Taconic Lake Association premises in Grafton along with her husband and parents. She loved and served a generation TLA members and, in addition to her their children, was “mother’ to hundreds of members’ children, showing them untold kindness. She was named an honorary member of Taconic Lake Association. She is survived by a son; a daughter; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren’ several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son Arthur J. Breton, and a brother, Vincent McCarthy. Funeral service will be held Monday at 9:00 a.m. at Bryce Funeral Home, Inc., 276 Pawling Avenue, Troy and at 9:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Victory Church, 55 North Lake Avenue. Troy, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Randall Patterson, pastor. Interment will be in St. Peter’s Cemetery.
