CHICOPEE - Clinton F. "Mac" McCarthy, 85, a native and lifelong resident of Chicopee, died Sept. 18 at home. He was born on February 2, 1918 the son of the late Michael and Delia (Donnellan) McCarthy, had attended Holy Name Grammar School in Chicopee, and was a graduate of Cathedral High School in Springfield. For 40 years he was employed as a lathe operator for the American Bosch and retired in 1980. Mac was a communicant of Holy Name Church, a member of Elder Council 69 of the Knights of Columbus and the John Boyle O'Reilly Club. He leaves his wife of 64 years, Margaret E. (Cavanaugh) McCarthy; two sons, Bud McCarthy and his wife Terry of West Springfield, and William McCarthy and his wife Mary of Chicopee; nine grandchildren and a great-granddaughter. The funeral was held on Sept. 22 at the Corridan Funeral Home, 333 Springfield St., Chicopee, followed by a Mass in Holy Name Church and burial in Calvary Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Holy Name Church Renovation Fund, 33 South St., Chicopee 01013.
