Lois was born Feb. 25, 1919, in Clyde, Mo., the oldest of seven children. Lois grew up on a farm, surviving the hardships of the Depression along with her family. Before her 17th birthday, she had seen five of her brothers die. After attending business college for a year, Lois went to work as a clerk-stenographer for the Army Air Corps during World War II. It was there she met and married her husband, Roy J. Gensweider of San Antonio. After the war they moved to Texas, living in San Antonio and later Fort Worth, Corpus Christi, Blossom and finally in Weatherford since 1985. They had six children, five of whom survived to adulthood.
Lois was an amateur painter as a young woman with several pieces of her artwork still hanging in her home. After her husband's death in 1994, Lois became very active in the 60-plus Group and the Ladies Guild at St. Stephen's Catholic Church in Weatherford. She joined the local AARP chapter and served in several positions. She worked as a precinct volunteer several years. Lois loved her family and thrilled at the achievements of all her children. Faith, family and friends kept her busy to the very end.
Her family would like to thank the wonderful caregivers and nurses at Arlington Memorial Hospital and Community Hospice of Texas, especially Polly, Mary, Nikki, Jennifer, Laura, Kim, Jane and Leticia.
Lois was preceded in death by her husband, Roy, and youngest son, James Gensweider.
