ALDRIDGE, Patricia Ann [McCandless] The world has lost one of its most caring and compassionate people who was a joy to so many friends and family. Pattys life journey ended at Carriage Court Assisted Living in Hilliard, Ohio in early morning on Friday, February 5, 2010 following an extended battle with Lewy Body Dementia. She was born September 10, 1935 in Middletown, Ohio to her parents, Louis Eugene McCandless and Frances Brittain. Patty graduated from Middletown High School in 1953 and went on to earn her diploma from the Middletown Hospital School of Nursing in August, 1956. She was certified as a Registered Nurse (RN) in December, 1956. She engaged her passion in nursing at Middletown Hospital from which she retired. Patty was a lifelong member of First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) where she served as one of its first female Elders. She was extraordinarily involved in the life the church over the years serving as a Sunday school teacher, leading the youth groups during her sons formative years and serving as chairperson to many church committees. She even blended her Christian ties and nursing as a Parish Nurse. The love of Pattys life was her late husband, Don, who predeceased her in 1996. They were Valentines sweethearts, having been married on Valentines Day in 1958. Pattys other love was her family. She is survived by her two sons, Mark (Komal) and Jeff (Kelly), and five grandchildren, Jake, Abigail, Natessa, Sam and Jack and one step grandchild, Wesley. In addition to her parents, Patty was predeceased by her brother Gene McCandless. Her brother Jerry survives her. Patty was an extraordinary cook and hostess as well. For many years, she engaged in a monthly Bridge card club. Until the loss of her health in recent years, she was always upbeat and willing to serve others in need. In her free time, she enjoyed collecting and decorating anything with a strawberry on it including antique dishes, clothing and knickknacks. Family will receive friends Wednesday 6-8 at the BREITENBACH MCCOY LEFFLER FUNERAL HOME. Funeral services will be held at First Christian Church, 4520 Rosedale Rd. Visitation at 10 am with funeral services beginning at 11 am on Thursday, February 11. Entombment to follow at Woodside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made to First Christian Church Memorials Fund or Miami University Foundation please designate for the Miami Middletown Nursing Scholarship Fund.
