YELLVILLE – Dr. James Marion McCallie died April 18, 2006, at Baxter Regional Medical Center in Mountain Home after a lengthy illness.

Graveside Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, April 21, 2006, at DeWitt Cemetery with Jeff McCallie officiating.

Pallbearers will be Joe Clouse, Wyatt Clouse, Ted McCallie, Will Dumond, Danny Eason and Mike McGowen. Honorary Pallbearer will be Brian Eason.

The son of Willis and Margaret (Cockrum) McCallie was born January 22, 1939, at DeWitt, Arkansas.

He was a Christian. He graduated from Oklahoma State University Veterinary Medical School in 1962. He was a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association and Alpha Psi fraternity. He owned a large-animal veterinary practice in Kimball, South Dakota, where he received the "Friends of 4-H Award", was a member of the school board and taught Sunday School at the First Methodist Church. He raised and raced quarter horses and raised cattle. He enjoyed golfing and was an avid supporter of the Kimball athletic teams and honored them with steak dinners. He returned to Arkansas in 1977 where he worked for USDA.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by two daughters, Machelle McCallie of Little Rock, Meredith and Joe Clouse of Diamond City, Arkansas; two sons, Jay and his wife Jill McCallie of Fulton, Missouri, and Jeff and his wife Debbie McCallie of Yellville; two brothers, Adrian McCallie of DeWitt, Arkansas, and Sam McCallie of Morrilton, Arkansas; three sisters, Sara Dumond of DeWitt, Arkansas, Blondie Cox of DeWitt, Arkansas, and Susan Overton of Dennard, Arkansas; and four grandchildren, Wyatt Clouse, Ted McCallie, Sarah McCallie, Greer Clouse, Lynda Shannon Daniel, the mother of his children.

James (Jimmie) was also a member of the DeWitt High School Class of 1956. The picture is his Senior year picture.

We, his school mates, remember him and his Silver Hawk car.
