M. Elaine Kapp, 88, of North Sheridan Road, Clarion, died peacefully on Friday, June 17, 2011, at her home.
Born July 18, 1922, in Toby Township, Clarion County, she was the daughter of the late Paul V. and Mary Hillis McCall.
Mrs. Kapp taught school in the Porter Township District and was a substitute teacher in Clarion Area School District for many years.
She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Clarion for 55 years and was active in the Woman's Association of the Church.
She enjoyed her family, friends, travel, her card clubs, solving crossword puzzles, knitting and making quilts for her children and grandchildren.
She was married to J. Paul Kapp on May 29, 1943, at the McCall homestead near Sligo.
She is survived by her husband, J. Paul Kapp of Clarion; a son, John Kapp and his wife Dorine of Ashland, Mass., two daughters, Mary Joyce and her husband David Anderton of Oil City, and Kristin and her husband James Middleton of Stanley, N.C.; and a brother, Frank McCall of Callensburg.
Also surviving are five grandchildren, Jeffrey Kapp and his wife Abby of Charlotte, N.C., Kelly Kapp of Boston, Mass., Eric Anderton and his wife Jocelyn of State College, Abby Anderton of Berlin, Germany, and Curtis Middleton of Stanley, N.C.; two great-grandchildren, Beckett Kapp of Charlotte, N.C., and Kenna Anderton of State College; and her brothers in-law and sisters-in-law, Joyce and Howard Lehman of Oil City, Norine McCall of Rimersburg, Margie McCall of Callensburg, Dolores Kapp of Cheswick, Edna Mae Hill of Amherst, Mass., and Chuck and Virginia Kapp of Miola.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Mark McCall.
Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the Goble Funeral Home and Crematory, 330 Wood St., Clarion.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday from First Presbyterian Church in Clarion with the Rev. Scott Hauser officiating.
Interment will follow in Clarion Cemetery.
