Services for Raymodeen McBurnett Wilkins, 78, were Friday at 10:00 a.m. in the Harvey-Douglas Funeral Home Chapel, Ardmore, conducted by Rev. Robert Hatton, associate pastor of the First Orthodox Baptist Church, followed by the Order of Eastern Star memorial services. Burial was in the Kingston Cemetery, Kingston.
Born to Lonzo and Alice Pack McBurnett August 15, 1914, at Overbrook, she went to be with the Lord April 6, 1993.
Raised in the Ardmore area, she graduated from Southeastern State College in 1939. She and Kenneth Wilkins were married March 7, 1937, at Kingston. They moved to Midwest City in the early 1950's. She was employed at Tinker Air Force Base until 1973, when she retired and returned to the Overbrook-Ardmore area.
The Past Worthy Matron of Ardmore Chapter #70 Order of the Eastern Star, Mrs. Wilkins was presently serving on the advisory board of Assembly 141 Order of the Rainbow for Girls. She was awarded the Grand Cross of Color, for outstanding service to the Rainbow Girls. Mrs. Wilkins had served as president of the local chapter of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees and was on the advisory board of RSVP. She was a member of the First Orthodox Baptist Church.
Survivors include a son, David Scott Wilkins of Norman; two daughters, Helen K. Vickery of Del City and Janet Killinger of Overbrook; two grandchildren, Trey Vickery and Amanda Killinger; a great-granddaughter, Jamie Vickery; a sister, Ruth Roberts of Hobbs, New Mexico; numerous nieces, nephews and young people who affectionately called her "Mama Wilkins."
Mrs. Wilkins was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth; and a daughter, Carol Jean Wilkins.
Services were under the direction of the Harvey-Douglas Funeral Home. Bearers and honorary bearers include John R. Howell, Al Cullum, Bud Hoye, John (J.P.) Probst, Mike Cullum, Frank Penny, Jerry Cullum, Larry Cullum, Lee Roberts, Dallas Curling, Duane Killinger, and Trig Meeks.
Memorials may be made to the Cross Timbers Hospice or the American Cancer Society.
