James "Pat" McBride, 81, passed away Saturday, December 29, 2007 at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center.
Interment will be held in Calvary Cemetery.
Mr. McBride was a native of Port Barre and resided in Lafayette all of his adult life. He was the son of the late Pierre Walter McBride and the former Lucie Arnaud. He graduated from Lafayette High School and served in the United States Navy during World War II and thereafter in the Unites States Army for 4 years.
He graduated from USL and later obtained a Masters degree from LSU in Economics. He was an associate professor of Economics at USL for approximately 10 years.
Pat had a number of careers, from sawmill operator, insurance adjuster, crop duster, construction business, and finally the owner/operator of Cajun Portable Buildings Inc., which he owned at his death.
Pat always considered himself to be a progressive thinker and once stated, "The people who talk about the good ole days don't know what they are talking about."
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Vega McBride of Lafayette; two daughters, Paule Ann Capak and husband, Joseph of Franklin, and Patricia Lucie McBride of California; three sons, Pierre Manuel McBride and wife, Doris Fourneret of Lafayette, James P. McBride, Jr. and wife, Natasha Golkava of Lafayette, and Christopher Delery McBride and wife, T.J. Jeansonne of Alexandria; eight grandchildren; one sister, Maxine Olinde of New Roads; and two brothers, Robert McBride of Lafayette, and Thomas McBride of Dallas, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Pierre Walter "Mike" McBride, Jr.
Delhomme Funeral Home, 1011 Bertrand Drive, Lafayette, is in charge of all funeral arrangements.
