In 1928 as a teenager, Hannah left her village of Moyvane to cross the ocean on her own for the city of New York. On the ship she slipped on the deck and broke her collar bone. Her first experience in the "New World" was having a doctor rebreak her collar bone so he could properly set it.
In 1935 she married Joseph Casey. Together they lived in the Bronx with their two daughters Elizabeth and Katherine. In 1979 they retired to Coventry, CT.
